OptiLight: Dry Eye Treatment That Works
End Your Dry Eye Suffering Today
Dry eye syndrome affects millions of people in the U.S. The condition results from inadequate tear production or poor quality of tears in the eyes, and it can compromise your overall quality of life if you’re not able to obtain effective treatment.
At Partners Pacific Optometry, we are committed to providing a range of dry eye treatment options to meet the unique needs of our patients. One of the treatments we offer is OptiLight — the only FDA-approved treatment for patients whose dry eye syndrome is caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
How OptiLight Works
OptiLight by Lumenis is a non-invasive dry eye treatment that harnesses the natural power of light to relieve dry eye symptoms caused by MGD. During this quick, in-office procedure, your eye doctor will first apply a gel to the treatment area and then cover your eyes with protective shields. Next, a light will be applied to the area, and you may feel a sensation of warmth. Afterward, your eye doctor may manually express your meibomian gland, which is responsible for producing tears, and will then apply sunscreen to the affected area.
The entire procedure lasts about 30 minutes, and may need to be repeated several times over the course of a few weeks. It is recommended to have 4 OptiLight sessions for the best results. By improving the functionality of your meibomian gland, OptiLight offers effective and lasting dry eye relief.
Are You a Good Candidate for OptiLight?
OptiLight may be a great treatment option for you if your dry eyes are caused by MGD and you do not have any scarring around your eyes. If you are not an ideal candidate for OptiLight, don’t worry — we also offer a number of alternative dry eye treatments.
